When you first go to the swimming pool, it all looks big and scary. The nervousness and anxiety take control and tell you to back off. Because your mind doesn’t want to risk anything new. Chances are you will fail and it might be painful.
But you know that you aren’t living in a tribal village and now there is no one waiting to kill and eat you. So if you take some risk it is only going to be humiliating and not life-risky. But you see people swimming like a fish – somewhere along the sides you see a new girl trying to swim. You visualize yourself doing the same thing. And there is a line for the form filling, health check up.
The resistance is huge because you want to swim but they are making it difficult for you to go out and swim.
Also the internal voice is telling you to just do the normal stuff. And which is the safest path but it is boring and not going to help you find your passions and joys.
So go and persist for the first day, doesn’t matter if you fail, it is embarrassing or any other reason – just stay. And do it one more day, and then one more. Slowly it all adds up. But it all starts with you pushing yourself and showing on the first day.
