For the longest time, I took hot shower – it makes me feel awesome. Cold water is a no-no. The shivering of the back when the droplets fall on your neck and down is terrifying.
Now imagine that ten-folds. When you take a dip in cold water, you have no control so you go all the way in within a second. The result a sudden shock of cold water. I bet you need to avoid that at all cost.
This is the reason – you need a take a nice shower before hand. So that you body temperature doesn’t get an instant shock. Never go to dip in water before a nice shower.
But what about swimming in cold water – would you be willing to do that…
In my swimming pool because of the temperature of the area – it gets cold for few months in a year. Not that freezing cold – but enough to make many people not come for swimming.
But me and my buddies go to swimming every month of the year. Because it is not that freezing cold that it will be harmful. Just enough that people who aren’t that inclined stay at home.
So people’s fear of not coming to a cold swim helped me and my friends to have the whole swimming to ourselves. And if it was raining then almost no one came. – feeling like a king in the water is one of the best feeling. You can see the water much clear because there is less turbulence.
Next time when you fear something – take note to verify if it is a legit one or some random fear with almost no consequences.
I can say one thing for sure – swimming in cold water is an amazing feeling. Because the water is just cold enough to make you feel its coldness. It isn’t that freezing cold that you would be shivering and freezing to stiffness.
Likewise, showering in cold water is an amazing feat – it helps your body to become active instantly than passively when you shower in warm water.
Also, if the environment is cold – swimming in cold water helps a lot. Because once you do that – you feel okay when you come out of water. But if you are in warm water then it feels more cold when you come out of water. Sorta magical – but it happens in showering too.
If the water is tolerable and you see at least few people swimming in then go for a swim in cold water. Tell me later how you felt…
