Do you remember when you were kid, you used to pester your parents to get the new toy. It didn’t matter if you had 100 toys in the basement for you to play. Once you see the new toy in the McDonalds, you had to have them.
Maybe not necessarily for playing, but to feel the new toy and show them to your parents. And being proud in your mind that you got to access these new toys.
There is an adrenaline rush when you get something new, you feel happy because you acquired something which not many have acquired till now.
Partly it is a status game, partly it is the new shiny thing which attracts you and partly it is a human habit to cherish the new things for more. The relationship is awesome in the first few years, house feels awesome when you move in recently and new Iphone feels great for a month.
Until it doesn’t and it starts to fade in our mind. And you are on the spree to find the next new thing.
First Day At Swimming
When you first joined the swimming class, first day felt like a game changer. You probably spent too much time in pool and the dressing up for the swimming was something you enjoyed a lot.
Slowly when you start doing it regularly it transforms into becoming a routine. And then you don’t get excited as much as you used to. But it’s fine because it is bound to happen.
So what should you do? The common path people choose is to be content with it and not think much about it.
The alternative is to embrace the fact that it will get less exciting going forward. And if you need to excel and become better or best – it is the persuasion you do with self to continue despite the low feeling that guarantees the success.
Yes, it is tough and your lazy brain will tell you to watch another show than go and swim. That demon inside your head, you need to fight it and do what you want.
Spice It Up
Like in relationship you need to keep adding flavors over the years, you need to take onus of the skills you need to learn. Yes, swimming for long years is tough and probably would get to you.
But keep adding flavors and you will be fine – learn diving, different spinning techniques, try swimming marathon and many more.
When you search for the different things you can add to level up fun and excitement the list is endless, choose one and keep the list handy for next time you feel like it is getting old.
No one can save you from the feeling of it’s just swimming again. You have to make it awesome by your narrative, spices and persuasion.
