I am privileged that I got to have a swimming pool at my workplace. Because it is provided to me in subsidized manner. So I have to pay only a portion of my money. Rest of the money is beared by the organization. And in a true social sense, this is needed so many people could join a sport they like without any financial trouble.
Imagine if joining a sport meant you need to cut expenses on your eating, clothes – terrible, right?
More and more organizations need to take onus for a healthy and inclusive environment. Because not many people go to gym – but give them a does of sports to choose and they will get attracted to at least one.
And if your employees are sweating it out then they will become more fit, happy and enthusiastic. Also sports teaches many skills which might help an individual and organization – team work, discipline and perseverance.
The Core Idea
Life is unfair and that’s why you have sports. Because you can’t be unfair in that. If you run faster than everyone else you win – no gimmick over there. But what if the savior of the sports become the enemy of the sports.
Where do you find the trust again? Can you live your life knowing that even sports are getting corrupted, tough for me.
So I was swimming in the pool having learnt swimming partly. I thought I need to practice in deep water so I went ahead sticking to the stairs so I could practice. The guard over there shouted at me and told me to come back when I had learnt swimming.
I was about to get out when I saw someone who is doing bad swimming than me swimming in much deep water. And the guard was supposedly helping her out. I called out the double standard – and she shook it off. It is because of such people who brings politics and favoritism in sports and try to ruin it.
You see the injustice happening and then you feel there is no hope. Because she is in position of power and you are the one who is at the mercy of them. You are enrolled because there exists a subsidiary. So it becomes a vicious cycle of you getting pinned down.
That’s the normal route anyone would take. But for me, this was unacceptable. So I decided I need to take the revenge – I told here that it ain’t fair and she is wrong. In a calm and composed voice and approached another guard who was playing it fair.
Learnt my swimming and then swam alongside the guard who was unfair to take my sweet revenge.
Getting back at someone doesn’t mean you should do harm to them. Instead improve yourself to a level that they feel you own them.
