Any skill doesn’t matter which it is – swimming, dancing or writing; everyone wants an easy way out.
A magic pill, trick and short-cut which will get you to the final output fast. This obsession with fast has made many people vulnerable to scams. A fine example of this – get quick rich schemes. Almost everyone wants to be rich – that too fast. Like some magical tale, you want loads of money with minimal or no effort.
So there exists a myriad of schemes from scamsters like get quick rich, high returns investment and many others.
They are targeting you with absurd hopes because you are looking for it. The end result is often the same – you get in the worse place than before. Even worse is when you still hold the belief that there exists an easy way for growth.
It Gets Hard
Whatever course or lessons you take is easy at the beginning – and then it gets hard. Sometimes it gets extremely hard such that quitting seems a fine alternative. But it is at this moment, when you decide that it is supposed to be hard – you get the light bulb moment.
If you are hoping to sell something then you need to get on phone with your potential customers and talk to them. Not to sell but to understand their needs, pain points. Making that phone call is hard. Many courses on selling asks you to do this research. But people don’t do this because its hard and try all the different things.
The result you don’t get the result you hoped for. So when it gets hard and it will always become hard – work more and push yourself.
So instead of looking for hints, tricks and tools which will accelerate you – look for the hard, emotional and physical labour which you need to do. Instead embrace that feeling because that is what which will take you to the next level.
What is the easiest way to learn anything?
Answer: By doing it.
Although this seems like a plain simple answer – but is the core of everything. This blog exists to guide you, help you and even motivate you to take up swimming despite your physical age. Because I believe learning is a lifelong experience and something which shouldn’t be a number restricted by age.
Can you become a world class person in the skill which you want to learn? Probably not. But you can become good enough. And that is what most of the people want in their life.
So, yes you can read a thousand blogs on investing, dancing or swimming – if it isn’t coupled with you actually going and dipping your feet in water – you won’t learn a thing.
You have to go and actually try out the thing – probably get embarassed, laughed at and fail multiple times. Learn from your failures and try again. Rinse and repeat – over time you are bound to improve. So go ahead and learn your skill – swimming if it is by enrollment.
Skin In The Game
How do you get the enrollment for the skill you want to learn?
By committing it to yourself, spending money on the equipment, signing up for the course. Also you can share it with your close friends – so it works as a thing of failure if you don’t commit in future.
Whatever it takes for you to get your skin in the game – do it. Because you want it to be hard to quit. You want everyone to know that you are here for the real deal. Either you will learn and level up or try harder. But quitting isn’t an option.
You are a warrior – one whose determination is the strongest. Your commitment means a real, solid YES for the enrollment. Once you are in – you are in, there is no backing out because it gets hard. You are thirsty for the hard part – it fuels you to do more, get better and become the best version of self.
Good luck, I believe in you.
