Marathon is soul crushing running regime. You have to do the same thing for a hour or two. And your body is continuously aching in all different variations. Your soul, brain and heart is telling you to stop. And the body is secreting lactic acid to make it harder for you to run.
At this point, it is easy to quit and many do the same. But select few who persists and continues goes on to complete the decorated marathon which is a star symbol of status.
Once you complete the marathon it is said that you can do almost anything in life. Because you had just completed one of the most demanding physical and mental game. Everything else is a peace of cake for you now. Whatever the challenge, your mind and body is prepared for it.
And on the other hand is the sprint which ends in approximately 10 seconds. Blink 5 times and you might miss the whole show.
Go With The Flow
When you set out to sprint, it is tempting to celebrate when you finish the 100 meter mark. But when you have the momentum, try to go ahead and finish the 200 meter mark.
Because of the momentum you won’t feel like you tried hard and you will be half way for the next 100 meter. It is like running with a cheat code.
Same principle applies to anything which you want to accomplish. For example, writing 100 words everyday is a minimum. But when there is momentum you should crank out 200 or maybe 500 words. Because of the momentum, you will naturally write and slowly it builds upon itself.
Swimming is no different sport. Everyday set out to do 10 laps. But once in a while you will feel like you aren’t tired. And you can do more. So don’t stop. Go and do 2 more laps.
Since you already have the momentum, it won’t feel like a stretch and voila you have done more.
Rinse and repat. Go get swimming.
